Condolence
Messages for Fr. Ragheed Ganni
I was
privilged to meet Ragheed a number of times and I fondly
remember his quiet and gracious presence and his friendly
manner. I am shocked, as I know that you and all in the Irish
College are, at the tragic and untimely death of such a young
man who was dedicated to serving the Lord and his people in such
difficult circumstances. I offer you my deepest sympathy on the
the sad loss of one of your young graduates. I think of,
and pray for, his family at this sad and trying time. I ask
that the Lord will console and strengthen them.
I have
celebratede the Eucharist for Ragheed, his companions and also
for his family who must be truly devastated. I also send
my condolences to the Bishop of Mossul on his great loss and to
the priests, Sisters, Christians of the diocese.
I hope to be
present at the Requiem Mass and to pray with you for Ragheed and
for all who grieve because of these sad deaths.

How
sad I felt when I read Paul's text informing me of
Ragheed's death. Memories flodded to me of the many
times I met him while I was in Rome '99 - 2002. His
presence, hospitality, real goodness made him one whom I
remember fondly. Along with this he was so good to my
family when they visited and indeed they too remember
him. The joy and gladness at his ordination and
attending his first Mass was so special and how he now
has surely given his life for his friends.
It is
good to be able to make contact with you in this way
and I send to you all who are saddened at this time my
love, remembrance in prayer, sincere sympathy. May you
be blessed as you continue to educate many to follow
God's call. In addition may you be blessed for
the tremendous hospitality you offer to all who come to
your door.
Phil
Murphy, (Loreto Sister)

With my deepest sympathy and

Rev. Edmond RIZK, Maronite
Order, LEBANON

I just wanted to offer my
condolences for the death of Ragheed. I worked at the Irish College
during the summer of 1999 and remember him as kind, friendly and
devoted to his work.
My thoughts are with all
those affected by his tragic death.
Thank you
Angela Nicholls, London,
England.

It was with shock and
sadness that I learnt of the death of Fr Ragheed. What an example of
priesthood, what an example of imitation of Christ in laying down his life
for his people. Over the past number of days I have heard from dozens of
people whose lives he touched here in Ireland both lay and clerical. His
death surely leaves a hole in the hearts of so many people, not least his
beloved Iraqi people.
May his martyrdom and that
of his three colleagues be the life-blood that will spring anew in Iraq and
turn people to love and mutual understanding. My thoughts and prayers
are with all who mourn him and all who have known loss in war and conflict.
Michael Kelly, The Irish
Catholic newspaper, Dublin

I still have tears in my
eyes when I read about Rr. Ragheed's death or watch the photographs of his
funeral. I thank God for the two years I could share with him in the Irish
College during my studies in Rome in 1998 - 2000. Ragheed was the first
student I got to know when I arrived in the College in September 1998 and I
remember his smile, warmness and openness as if it was yesterday. All of us
who could talk to him on many occasions know that he suffered a lot in his
heart with his iraqi people. Since then no news from Iraq were just an
ordinary news from a troubled land.
Ragheed, thank you for your
friendship but most of all for your testimony of faith confirmed with your
own blood and the blood of your companions. With each martyr the Church is
even stronger. I believe that now you share the palm of victory with
millions of martyrs in heaven. Pray for me and for all of us who were
lucky to know you personally. I will remember you and your people in my
prayers and at the altar of our Lord. My condolences go also to Fr. Liam,
Fr. Paul and to the rest of the Community in the beloved Irish College.

Banská Bystrica, Slovakia
