Condolence
Messages for Fr. Ragheed Ganni
I have just been told by
Frank of the tragic death of Fr. Rageed Ganni and his deacons. My heart
breaks for his family in Iraq and for you his wonderful adopted family in
Rome. He wore the mark of Christ with great love, dignity and pride. It was
probably for this mark that he and his companions died.
Please convey my deepest
sympathy to the staff and students of the Irish College who knew and loved
him so well.
You and his family are
constantly in my prayers.
Pauline Cogan

I was very
saddened to read on Zenit the sad news about the death of Ragheed.
He was a very impressive young priest. The last time I saw him was
on Telepace during
the Eucharistic Congress in Bari, when he spoke about how his sister
was badly injured in a bomb attack. He was obviously well aware
that his life was at risk.
With the
century only seven years old, the Irish College now has two past
students killed in the exercise of their ministry.
If you are
in contact with his family, I would be glad if you would convey my
sympathy to them and assure them that I will offer Mass for him and
for them, as well as for the three deacons killed with him.
With good
wishes,
Donal
Murray

It is with deep
regret and shock that we heard of the
heart-rending and brutal death of Fr. Ragheed
Ganni, your fellow priest and past student of
the Irish College, Rome; you are in our thoughts
and prayers during this time of grief. May God
comfort his family and the families of the three
deacons who died along side him in Iraq. They
are martyrs for their faith and belief in God
whose presence they now share in eternity.
Sincerely,
Sr. Eileen
Cummins, OLA

I was shocked, upset and
deeply saddened by the news of Ragheed's brutal death. I
have vivid memories of Ragheed's smiling face, words
of consolation and deep faith in God and love of Christ.
All my family (in
particular my mum) join with everybody who is praying
for him at this very very sad time. It was indeed a
privilege to have met and to have known such a man of
God.Please let me know if the PIC will be celebrating a
special Mass for Ragheed.

On behalf of all the family, I
extend our sincerest condolences on the tragic death of Fr.
Ragheed Ganni, RIP, whom we remember with great affection. Our
prayers and throughts are with his family and friends on this
very sad occasion.
Sincerely
Gino, Mary,
Patrick and all the Bottigliero (Pyne) family

It is with great sadness we heard
of the death of Fr. Ragheed Ganni. May I offer condolences on
behalf of the Augustinian community of Collegio Santa Monica. Be
assured of our prayers for his soul and for the three deacons
who lost their lives with him.

Shocked and deeply saddened to hear
of the tragic death of Ragheed in his beloved country. I knew
Ragheed well from my two years with him at the Irish College, we
were a part of the group that "survived" the earthquake in
Assisi where we were undertaking an Italian course in 1997.
Ragheed visited
me here in my parish of Christ the King, Caherdavin, Limerick
shortly after my own ordination and got me out of a very
difficult spot by taking my place in judging a bonny baby
competition at the parish field day! I would be forever hated by
many parents for not choosing their beautiful baby!
I hope that the
strong faith Ragheed professed is shared by his dear parents and
family so that it will support them in their unimaginable loss.
May you rest in
peace Ragheed.
Richard Davern,
Diocese of Limerick.

It
is with profound shock and sadness that I have heard of the
death of Fr. Ragheed Ganni. I had the privilege of meeting
him in Lough Derg , he was a deacon at the time. The year of
his ordination my wife and I visited him in the Irish
College in Rome, and he greeted us with his captivating
smile and warm personality .He subsequently visited Ireland
and spent some days with us, and said mass in our parish
church. We were so proud to have him with us, we loved him
like he was our son. We are devastated that a man so devoted
to his church and his people could be murdered in could
blood. Please extend our sympathy to his parents and his
family.

& Dorothy Cuddihy. Dublin.

Earlier today
I heard of Fr Ragheed's death, and like you and all the other members of
the Irish college family I was shocked and greatly saddened to hear
of this very tragic news.In
the 2 years that we shared in the college 1996-1998, I came to know a
truly wonderful person, Christ like in every way.
He died on a
martyr's day , St Charles Lwanga and his companions, and I regard Fr
Ragheed as a martyr for Christ. We can only pray that very soon the
peace of Christ will break through into the land of Iraq.I will be with
you in spirit as you celebrate Requiem Mass in the college Chapel on
Thursday afternoon. I will offer Mass on Thursday morning for the repose
of his soul and the comfort of his family, and Diocesan brothers.
I spoke earlier
today to Frs Eddie McGee and Darach Mac Giolla Cathain, and they share
my sentiments. May Fr Ragheed's soul rest in peace.

The Balally Parish
Hospitality Group (Senior Citizens) wish to express their grief and sadness
on hearing of the murder of Fr. Ragheed Ganni .He said mass in our parish
church on a number of occasions and afterwards joined us at our social
gathering for a cup of tea and a chat. He sang a verse of “ Docus Linn Naomh
Padraig “ for us which he learned in Lough Derg. We have been kept up to
date on his difficult life since going back to Iraq and he has been
constantly in our prayers. Please convey to his parents and family our
deepest sympathy.
Balally Hospitality
Group, Balally, Dublin

I would like to convey the
sympathy of St. Patrick's Missionary Society and my own sympathy, as a
fellow alumnus of the Irish College, to the family, diocese and friends
of the the late Fr. Ragheed.
May his soul and the souls of
those killed with him rest in peace.
