Condolence
Messages for Fr. Ragheed Ganni
Please convey to the friends and family of
the late Fr Ragheed and to the staff and students of the Irish College the
most sincere condolences of my wife and myself. I recall meeting the late
father when he was student at the College and am most saddened to hear of
his tragic death. Ar dheis De go rabh a anam.

I am very sorry to hear of the
death of your former student in such terrible circumstances.
It is some time since he was in
Rome and I am not sure how many students you have from Iraq. But I
believe I may have met him. If it was he that was involved in Lough
Derg pilgrimages then my sister-in-law certainly knew him. She will be
very sad to hear this awful news.
All the best to you both and the

in peace, and may his fellow Christians in Iraq, and his
friends everywhere, be comforted. We continue to

Ragheed you will be sorely missed. I remember you as an
incredibly enthusiastic and happy man, I can't believe you
are gone. Yet, you have attained the highest of positions in
the Church, to die as a martyr for your faith, a man of
peace, while acting as a father to your people. Surely,
nothing can be more Christ-like. I am reminded of John
15:13, 'Greater love has no man than this, than to lay down
his life for his friends.'
You will be remembered in our prayers.

I was very sorry to learn of the tragic death of your confrere (and his
companions) in Iraq -- the terrible deed got major coverage on the news
here. Just one more tragedy in that sad land, but I am sure it strikes
especially hard when it involves someone with whom you have close links.

ho appreso da Sebastiano e,
poi, dai mezzi di comunicazione la terribile notizia dell’uccisione del
nostro amatissimo don Ragheed Ganni insieme ad altri suoi compagni. Non mi
sembra ancora vero. Ci siamo sentiti con alcuni italiani che lo hanno
conosciuto: don Maurizio Volante, don Stefano Teisa, don Vincenzo Gallo, don
Loris Cena. Siamo esterrefatti e profondamente addolorati per questa
scomparsa prematura ed, umanamente, assurda. Siamo tutti consapevoli, del
resto, che Ragheed è stato un esempio luminoso di cristiano e sacerdote per
tutti noi e per la Chiesa irachena. Questa martoriata Chiesa ha dei nuovi
martiri, "semi di nuovi cristiani".Siamo sicuri che questo sacrificio non
sarà vano per questa terra. Ci uniamo al vostro dolore e alle vostre
preghiere per i suoi familiari e per tutta la Chiesa che è in Iraq.
Ragheed, dal Cielo, non farà
mancare la sua intercessione.

in questi giorni ho
appreso la triste notizia dell'uccisione di padre Ragheed Ganni
che per un po' di tempo ha condiviso la vita al Collegio. Anche
io ho avuto il dono di conoscere padre Ragheed. E' sempre stato
cordiale con tutti noi, molto umile. La notizia della sua
terribile morte mi ha lasciato sconcertato. Avevo già sentito di
notizie di questo genere, ma è molto diverso quando la persona
che hanno ucciso si è conosciuta, si ha camminato un pezzo di
strada insieme.
Con fede devo dire,
e anche come sacerdote, che Ragheed davanti al Signore era un
frutto maturo. Ragheed era pronto già ad incontrarsi con il Dio
della Vita. Lui ora è là con il suo sorriso, i suoi occhi neri
e contempla il Volto di Dio che lui ha amato, adorato, servito
nella via del sacerdozio.
Ho saputo che in
questi giorni ricorderete padre Ragheed con una santa Messa, mi
unisco con voi al dolore della sua nascita al cielo e con voi
chiedo che il Dio della Misericordia lo accolga nella sua casa
tra i suoi servi fedeli. Domani mattina lo ricordo nella S Messa
presso le Suore.

Volontà di Dio.
